Wenxuan Lai wins “Best Poster” at the 2025 Graduate Research Symposium

Second-year M.S. student Wenxuan Lai received the Best Poster Award at the 2025 Graduate Research Symposium, hosted by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. His research focuses on visualizing osteocytes and the lacunar-canalicular network within human bone using Cornell Prime Dots (C’-dots), which is a class of core-shell fluorescent nanoparticles developed in the Wiesner Lab.

Wright Receives NIH T32 Fellowship

Third-year PhD student Quinton Wright received NIH T32 Fellowship, which provides students with funding and opportunities to explore clinical translational research. Quinton will study factors associated with implant shift in cementless total knee arthroplasty. He will spend the Spring 2024 semester at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City collaborating with Dr. Emily Stein.

Adu joins Merck as a Retinal Disease Intern

Kobby Adu accepted a summer position as a Retinal Disease Intern at Merck. His group will be researching age-related macular degeneration and testing drug candidates for that condition. When asked about the upcoming experience Kobby said “I’m super excited to be working at Merck. Thanks to the cool imaging work I do in the Donnelly Lab, I’ve gotten a new opportunity to expand on the skills I’ve built and do more fluorescence-based research!”

Sodeinde receives GEM Fellowship Award

Tomisin Sodeinde, 2nd year MS student received the GEM Employer Fellowship which provides student with funding and opportunities to do STEM research at universities. The fellowship also provides a summer internship experience at the Idaho National Laboratory to conduct research on green hydrogen technology and high-temperature electrolysis.
